Welcome

What do I do?

Web development

Through my education, I mainly studied software development. I learned classic programming languages such as C and Java. but also "pre-compiled" languages such as Python, R and VBA. Building up on my initial knowledge I was also able to learn the basics of c++ and c#. However I never had the chance to work with these languages profesionally.

But within Bluetown I had the chance to be responsible for developping a complete online plateform. There I could fully learn and master the three languages of the internet: CSS, HTML and of course Javascript. And because I wanted to go even further, I created this website using an Apache server and thus approaching PHP language.

At the moment, most of the software dev that I do is done using the java framework and most of the web dev is done using javascript framework such as Node.js. Thanks to that I was able to work with many open-source plateform such as: express.js, socket.io, pug templating engine and many other...

Operations research

Basically? It's all about optimization. For instance, I worked on the time table of Mærsk Line routes. Using mathematical tools I devised an original mathematical model to represent the non-linearity of gas consumption. The resulting peer-reviewed publication can be freely accessed here. The purpose of such research, as it is highlighted in the paper, is to fine-tune operations and generate savings. In our case we showed that it was possible for Mærsk Line to create up to 10% fuel savings by properly adjusting its timetables.

I also applied OR while working on mathematical modelling of nuclear reactor cooling with AREVA NP (now Framatome). And more recently I applied OR to deploy an international supply chain in Bluetown ApS where I was responsible for seting up a logistic network spaning Europe, Asia and Africa.

My latest experience with OR was as a consultant for Bane Danemark. There I provided a tool which solved a specialization of the assignment problem to help project managers with the scheduling of their quality control.

Excel

My first project in Excel/VBA was a full inventory management system for the french railway company. The system leveraged a barcode reader to quickly check-in and check-out items. The gathered data was then used to generate dashboards and send alerts according to predefined critical stock levels.

Since then I have developed various excel tools: custom clearance documentation generator, purchase orders generator & tracker, more inventory management tools and diverse scheduling tools.
My Excel skills lead me to create a consulting company where I provide Excel knowledge as a service. Through this company I had the chance to work with different consulting companies in Denmark such as Valcon A/S. If this interests you, do not hesistate to contact me.

Data modelling

Data modelling and data architecture are often overlooked in the business world. However they are often the reason why a system is difficult to maintain, slow and cannot provide easily the information needed. Using UML best practises and a good dose of common sense can go a very long way into generating blazing fast, real-time data warehousing.

Business Intelligence

Leveraging the power and the portability of the D3.js framework, I was able, at bluetown, to create a fully responsive dashboard plateform which also works on old mobilephone with limited features.
